Pretty in Pistachio - Dezignatek

I’m very pleased that Dezigntek chose too showcase on their website my recent project, where I used Dezignatek panelled doors in Pistachio matt.

 Waiheke Kitchen in print

I am thrilled and delighted that Archant (formerly Heritage Hardware) has chosen a kitchen designed by me to feature on the front cover of their new Brand Book.  This kitchen is in beautiful Waiheke Island.  My lovely clients had a very clear vision of what they wanted their kitchen to represent – clean, sharp lines, unfussy & durable.  Having already built a stunning guest cottage  on their property, they were in the early stages of building their main house when we met.

Though a process of meetings, lots of discussion and pouring over their architectural plans a ‘black & white’ theme emerged, resulting in a kitchen that worked seamlessly with the rest of their house and truly conveyed the aesthetic they were looking for.

My clients are great cooks and entertain a lot so we went for a big island in 30mm composite stone with plenty of room for people to sit around. They chose fabulous products from Archant – a Schock EcoGranite sink – the Egmont in Nero with a complimentary tap – the Shock Orbit also in Nero.  This sink and tap are designed to match and they look so stunning against the white composite stone benchtop.

The clients wanted the handleless look and so chose the Heritage Ezi-Venice Integrated handle in brushed nickel for the doors and drawers.  This handle gave the kitchen the clean lines they were looking for.  The brushed nickel offered a great contrast to the black acrylic high gloss finish on the cabinetry.

My clients came up with a really cool idea for the back of the bar, they have had an image they like printed onto paper and then have placed glass in front of that.  The beauty of this idea is that you change it whenever you like!!!

It is always critical for me to get a good understanding of how my clients live and how they expect their kitchen to function. In this case my clients were particular and precise, which really helped me, plus they were great fun to work with.

It’s worth noting that the guest cottage on this beautiful property is available to rent.  So if you want a break in beautiful Waiheke Island, a hop, skip and a jump from Auckland.
